EDC Minutes <br />June 7, 2017 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />WSB Senior Planner Eric Zweber discussed the various commercial and industrial districts in <br />the City, and the amount of land and the total square footage of buildings available within each <br />business and industrial zone. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding marketing of the Gateway property located at I-694 and I-35W and <br />what uses would be most advantageous to the City. Also discussed were zones that could <br />potentially be modified to allow other uses. <br /> <br />WSB Senior Planner Zweber noted that the amount of vacancies in the City is healthy. <br /> <br /> <br />B. State of the City <br /> <br />Senior Planner Bachler stated that the City Council discussed the EDC’s recommendation of <br />changing the venue to the Tavern Grill and agreed to the location. The Council asked that the <br />morning event be held on September 28 and the evening event on October 3. Staff contacted the <br />Tavern Grill and found they are available to host the morning event. There will be no rental fee, <br />and they will serve breakfast for approximately $5 per person. <br /> <br />Senior Planner Bachler also noted that advertising for the event will be very similar to last year, <br />and the City is in process of hiring a Communications Coordinator who will be involved in the <br />marketing process. <br /> <br /> <br />C. Business Retention and Expansion Program <br /> <br />It was noted that Commissioners Williams and O’Meara visited IntriCon and felt it was a <br />productive meeting. Senior Planner Bachler will send an email to see if anyone needs help <br />scheduling interviews. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />5. UPDATES <br /> <br />A. Commission Members <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />B. Council Liaison <br /> <br />Council Liaison McClung stated the Council had a meeting with the Ramsey County Traffic <br />Engineer to discuss upcoming projects. <br /> <br />C. Staff Comments <br /> <br />Senior Planner Bachler mentioned that Health Partners’ request for an 8,000 square foot addition <br />to their clinic on Northwoods Drive was approved at the May 22 City Council meeting. <br />Construction is expected to begin this summer.
