CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br /> <br />Senior Planner Matthew Bachler called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Present: Chair Dan Erickson, Commissioners Kyle Lassen, Liz Johnson, Evan Cordes, Rob <br />Williams, Sheila Bennett Kilander and Brendan O’Meara <br /> <br />Also Present: Council Liaison Dave McClung, Senior Planner Matthew Bachler, WSB Senior <br />Planner Eric Zweber, and Deputy Clerk Jolene Trauba <br /> <br />2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to accept the agenda as presented. <br /> <br /> <br />3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to accept the May 3, 2017 and June 7, 2017 meeting <br />minutes as presented. <br /> <br />4. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />A. Commercial, Industrial and Higher Education Study <br /> <br />Senior Planner Matthew Bachler noted that in May and June, WSB and Associates presented <br />topics included in the study. The May meeting included discussion of employment and economic <br />activities for commercial and industrial uses in the City’s business districts. At the June meeting <br />they looked at what land and building space is available in the City’s current business districts. A <br />draft of the complete study will be presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />WSB Senior Planner Eric Zweber discussed the draft study. A “College and University <br />Enrollment By Community” document was handed out and Arden Hills’ unique situation of <br />approximately 1:1 ratio of residents to students was noted. Other items discussed in the draft <br />study were the economic impact of college student spending, the potential for property tax revenue <br />loss, and the recommendation to create two different definitions of higher education – higher <br />education campus and higher education classroom/office.
