<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br />TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2017 <br />ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL <br /> <br /> <br />CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chair Rich Straumann called the November 21, 2017, meeting of the Parks, Trails, and Recreation <br />Committee to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Rich Straumann, Committee Members Paul Beggin, Terry Finlay, <br />Nancy O’Malley, and John Van Valkenburg <br /> <br />OTHERS PRESENT: Council Liaison Mayor David Grant, Staff Liaison Sara Knoll and <br />Volunteer Bob Mullin. <br /> <br />ABSENT: Committee Members Josh Bloyer, Keri Bloyer, and Harold Petersen <br /> <br />1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br /> <br />MOTION: The agenda was approved by the Committee unanimously (5-0). <br /> <br /> <br />2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />A. September 19, 2017 <br /> <br />MOTION: Minutes from the September 19, 2017 meeting were unanimously approved (5-0). <br /> <br />3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />NONE <br /> <br />4. NEW BUSINESS <br /> A. Floral Park Update <br /> <br />Bob Mullin provided PTRC Members with an update on the gardens at Floral Park. A map of the <br />gardens was provided. He noted the land under cultivation has almost doubled in the last few <br />months. There are now 75 different species of plants growing in the beds. He credited Ann <br />Dooley for initiating the action to have the gardens designated as a Monarch Way Station. <br />Staff Liaison Sara Knoll mentioned that there are now two signs at the park showing the Monarch <br />Way Station designation. <br />
