Parks, Trails & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes November 21, 2017 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Mullin explained the plants that are currently in the gardens and the vision for the new garden <br />areas. <br /> <br />B. Johanna Marsh Playground Equipment Update <br /> <br />Staff Liaison Knoll updated the PTRC Members on the status of the Johanna Marsh <br />playground equipment that was approved by the City Council. The equipment was ordered <br />through Minnesota/Wisconsin Playgrounds and the City received a grant for $31,786 to be <br />used toward the equipment. The equipment is scheduled to be installed in the spring of <br />2018. <br /> <br />C. Playground Equipment Replacement <br /> <br />Discussion was held around the twenty year replacement plan for playground structures. <br />Cummings Park and Freeway Park equipment is scheduled to be replaced in 2018. There is <br />a need to make those two parks ADA compliant along with considering equipment <br />replacement. <br /> <br />Staff was requested to verify replacement dates on Cummings Park and Arden Manor. <br /> <br /> <br />D. 2018 PTRC Work Plan <br /> <br />Staff Liaison Knoll suggested that the Committee should start thinking about projects for <br />2018 and what they would like to see accomplished. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Mayor David Grant stated he would like to see the trail built from the <br />County Road E bridge to Bethel College and possibly to E2, as well as a trail from County <br />Road E2 from the 35W bridge to New Brighton Road. He updated the Committee with the <br />latest information in regard to those trails. <br /> <br />Staff Liaison Knoll noted a trail section on New Brighton Road connecting Perry Park and <br />Hazelnut Park is on the Committee Work Plan. <br /> <br />5. REPORTS <br /> <br />Council Liaison Mayor David Grant discussed TCAAP groundwater optimization study and the <br />potential for Amazon to come to Arden Hills. <br /> <br />Staff Liaison Knoll updated the Committee on the Halloween Boo Bash, and various <br />programming within the Parks and Rec department. Breakfast with Santa will be held December <br />16 and is one of the most popular events of the year. <br /> <br />Committee Member Paul Beggin said there will be a meeting regarding a possible event center <br />on the property around the remaining building on TCAAP. He would like to see public tours take <br />place of the area and the trail system. ???? Sara, I’m not sure if that’s really what he was talking <br />about?? <br />
