ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL – OCTOBER 22, 2018 2 <br /> <br />occurring across the nation. He reported all deputies now have Narcan to assist in saving <br />individuals involved in an opioid overdose. He encouraged the community to turn in their expired <br />and unused prescription medications in order to keep these pills away from individuals suffering <br />from addiction. He commented on the educational efforts the County was involved in regarding <br />the opioid crisis and encouraged the public to attend a forum that would be held on November 1 at <br />6:30 p.m. at Bethel University that was titled #NotAnotherOverdose. <br /> <br />Ramsey County Sheriff Jack Serier commented on the efforts of the joint swat team and <br />thanked Arden Hills for their continued support. He stated Ramsey County was devising plans on <br />how to address threats in public spaces. He explained the most concerning public spaces were the <br />corporate environment, churches, and schools. He provided further comment on the efforts of the <br />Safety and Threat Assessment Group. He indicated Public Forums would be held in 2019 on this <br />topic. <br /> <br />Ramsey County Sheriff Jack Serier stated his department was very diligent with its finances. <br />He explained he was happy to report the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department returned $1.2 <br />million to the County and to contract cities. He discussed how diligently he worked to keep his <br />department under budget. He described the diversity goals he was working to achieve within his <br />organization. Lastly, he invited the public to visit the Fright Farm at the Ramsey County Barn <br />October 25 through October 27 and again on October 31. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant requested further information regarding Pulse Point. <br /> <br />Ramsey County Sheriff Jack Serier stated he would investigate this further and would report <br />back to the City Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant asked how the contract cities would be impacted by the return of $1.2 million. <br /> <br />Ramsey County Sheriff Jack Serier explained the contract cities would receive an appropriate <br />percentage of the reimbursement that would be used to bring down contract community costs for <br />2019 contracts. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant encouraged the public to dispose of their unused or expired prescription drugs at <br />the law enforcement site in Arden Hills. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmes mentioned she was able to ride with Kevin Otto during Night to Unite <br />and understood that he would be retiring. She requested the Ramsey County Sheriff’s driving <br />through Arden Hills interact more with Arden Hills residents in a friendlier manner. <br /> <br />Ramsey County Sheriff Jack Serier stated he would discuss this with his deputies. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden commented she had received a lot of positive feedback after National <br />Night Out that the Sheriff’s Department was improving its interaction with the public, but agreed <br />this should continue to be a priority. She stated Arden Hills was having a problem with mail theft, <br />vandalism in the parks and stolen bikes. She requested the Sheriff’s Department work with the <br />City to address these concerns. <br />
