CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br />TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2018 <br />ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL <br />CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br />Chair Rich Straumann called the October 16, 2018, meeting of the Parks, Trails, and Recreation <br />Committee to order at 6:30 p.m. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Rich Straumann, Committee Members Keri Bloyer, Paul Beggin, <br />Nancy O’Malley, Harold Peterson, Terry Finlay and John Van Valkenburg, City Council Liaison <br />David Grant <br />OTHERS PRESENT: Public Works Director/City Engineer Sue Polka, Guest Dan Dietz <br />ABSENT: Committee Member Josh Bloyer, Staff Liaison Sara Knoll <br />1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />MOTION:The agenda was unanimously approved by the Committee. <br />2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Old Snelling Trail and Future Trail Connections <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Sue Polka noted that the construction on Old Snelling <br />Avenue is close to being done. Final paving and striping should be done in the next couple of <br />weeks. The trail connection at Lindey’s corner needs to be completed. County Road F should be <br />completed by the end of October. <br />Chair Rich Straumann asked if there were any trail projects being scheduled in 2019. <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka said there were none, but design work will be done <br />for Old Snelling Road south of County Road E and the trail extension will be designed, with <br />possible construction in 2020 or 2021. She also noted that construction on the Old Snelling <br />Avenue bridge near Hwy 51 starts the week of October 22. <br />Discussion ensued regarding possible Ramsey County road construction and development areas in <br />the City.
