Parks, Trails & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes October 16, 2018 <br />Page 2 <br />Chair Straumann gave an update on upcoming Ramsey County trail projects. <br />Committee Member Nancy O’Malley felt a trail that should be focused on is under the railroad <br />bridge on New Brighton Road, near Perry Park. <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka said the whole bridge would have to be rebuilt make <br />room for a trail there. <br />Committee Member Keri Bloyer agreed with looking into a trail for New Brighton Road. <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka said that Ramsey County has a project coming for <br />Lexington between County Road E and I694 and they will be completing sidewalk segments in that <br />area. <br />Committee Member Harold Peterson? mentioned that the Valentine Park trail could be extended <br />from E2 and Old Snelling up to Highway 96 and connect to the Rice Creek Commons area. <br />There was discussion about the possible expansion of Mounds View High School and potential <br />sidewalks and trails in that area. <br />City Council Update: City Council Liaison David Grant noted that the Minnesota Army <br />National Guard Red Bulls broke ground on the AHATS property. There will be a 136,000 square <br />foot building, and approximately 800 people will be drilling at the facility. They are hoping to <br />move in the summer of 2020. Also, the City received a letter from Alatus Corporation saying they <br />won’t execute the Letter of Understanding for the civic space at Rice Creek Commons, <br />negotiations will continue. <br />City Council Liaison David Grant updated the committee on new tenants going into Lexington <br />Station Phase II. Springhill Suites by Marriott will be starting on utility work at their site. <br />HealthPartners opened their new addition. There is a new tenant in the Old Smith Medical <br />building. Pot of Gold Bingo Hall is up for sale. <br />B. TCAAP Park Standard Review <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka noted the Memorandum of Understanding was <br />signed by the developer. She reviewed the proposed parks and amenities. The Town Center park <br />will be the first park to be built. <br />City Council Liaison David Grant said the rest of the parks may not get built out exactly the way <br />the committee wants them, but they will get built, depending on when the neighborhoods are built.
