Page 1 of 1 CONSENT ITEM – 7P MEMORANDUM DATE: April 22, 2019 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers Dave Perrault, City Administrator FROM: Sue Polka, Interim Public Works Director/City Engineer SUBJECT: Highway 10 Watermain Replacement–TKDA Proposal for Construction Administration Services Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: $30,000 $47,400 Water Utility Council Should Consider Entering into an amended professional services agreement with TKDA to provide construction administration engineering services on an hourly time and materials basis in the not-to-exceed amount of $17,400. Background/Discussion On May 14, 2018, the City Council approved a professional services agreement with TKDA to provide design services for the Highway 10 Watermain Replacement Project in the amount not to exceed $15,000. On November 13, 2018, the contract was increased by another $15,000 due to additional work including plan and specification revisions requested by MnDOT, right of entry exhibits, and coordination meetings. MnDOT recently awarded a contract to Meyer Contracting for the project which is currently under construction in conjunction with the Highway 10 widening and noise wall construction. City staff is providing in-house construction observation for the watermain portion of the project. It is typical for the City to continue a contract with the design engineer to provide technical assistance during construction in the event questions arise on the plans and specifications. TKDA has also been attending preconstruction meetings and providing information for the grant submittal to the state. Staff is requesting an amendment to the agreement in the amount of $17,400 (Attachment A). Attachments Attachment A: TKDA – Proposal for Engineering Services
