Jedlicki, Inc. $254,978.00 <br />Asphalt Surface Technologies Corp. $299,463.25 <br />Bituminous Roadways, Inc. $367,877.54 <br />New Look Contracting, Inc. $444,078.15 <br />Meyer Contracting, Inc. $446,393.92 <br /> <br />Interim Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka explained all bids are higher than the <br />Engineer’s estimate which is $185,000.00. In general, asphalt and pipe items were higher than <br />estimated which has been a trend this year. Pember Companies, Inc. completed the Lift Station <br />#11 Improvements project for the City and has completed similar projects successfully in the <br />metro area. Staff reviewed a letter from Bolton & Menk recommending award to Pember as the <br />lowest responsible/responsive bidder. Staff reviewed Resolution 2019-020 awarding the Colleen <br />Avenue Drainage Improvements to Pember Companies in the amount of $250,247.00. Staff <br />recommended adoption of Resolution 2019-020. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmes commented on the expense of this project and noted this expense was <br />not budgeted. She questioned how the project would be funded. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant agreed this should be discussed and asked how long the bids would be good for. <br /> <br />Interim Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka commented the bids would be good for 30 <br />days and explained the bids were received on June 4, 2019. She recommended the Karth Lake <br />retaining wall project be pushed out to a later date in order to complete this project. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden stated she could support the project going forward but recommended <br />the Council further discuss the funding source at an upcoming budget worksession meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Scott asked if this project was a continuation of the work that was completed in <br />this area in 2018. <br /> <br />Interim Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka reported this was the case. <br /> <br />Councilmember Scott stated he would like to see this project completed first and have the Karth <br />Lake issue moved to a future date. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant supported this item getting done as well. He requested staff provide a funding <br />source for projects prior to bringing an item before the Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden requested further information regarding the new stormwater standards <br />that would be coming out. <br /> <br />Interim Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka indicated she could not answer this <br />question until the new permits were issued. She stated she understood that stormwater ponds <br />would have to be inspected every five years. <br />
