ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—JUNE 24, 2019 11 <br /> Mr.Brausen reported the site had 16 security cameras at this time. He noted he would have 24 to <br /> 30 high-def cameras after the improvements were complete. <br /> Councilmember Holmes questioned if the trees on the east side of the property would be <br /> removed. <br /> Community Development Manager/City Planner Mrosla reported these trees would be <br /> staying. He commented further on the trees that would be removed to make room for the <br /> redevelopment project. <br /> Councilmember Holden recommended a condition be added to ensure that juniper bushes would <br /> not be considered trees. <br /> Councilmember Holmes supported this recommendation. <br /> AMENDMENT: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember McClung <br /> seconded a motion to add Condition 23 stating the Applicant shall add <br /> 15.3 caliper inches of trees or provide cash in lieu. The amendment <br /> carried (5-0). <br /> AMENDMENT: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember McClung <br /> seconded a motion to add Condition 24 requiring the applicant to use a <br /> rock faced concrete block on the building, which will match the <br /> existing building material. The amendment carried (5-0). <br /> AMENDMENT: Mayor Grant moved and Councilmember McClung seconded a motion <br /> to amend Condition 19 to read no neon or LED banding shall be <br /> permitted on the fuel canopy or free-standing monument signs. <br /> Community Development Manager/City Planner Mrosla explained one option for the City <br /> would be to allow recessed or shielded banding. <br /> Councilmember Scott stated he opposed banning the banding as this could be a trademark issue <br /> for some companies. <br /> Councilmember Holmes indicated she supported the banding as it was part of the look or <br /> branding for the store. <br /> Councilmember Holden asked how close the residential houses were to the service station. <br /> Community Development Manager/City Planner Mrosla estimated the closest house was 800 <br /> to 1,000 feet away. <br /> Councilmember Holden recommended Condition 19 address the fuel canopy and that a new <br /> condition address banding on the building. <br /> Mr.Brausen explained Holiday Stations had trademarked blue lighting on their buildings. <br />
