All items approved unanimously by <br />5-0 vote. <br />July 8, 2019 <br />• Approved a contract with North <br />Suburban Access Corporation <br />dba CTV North Suburbs to <br />upgrade the City’s Council A/V <br />equipment to improve the visual <br />and sound quality of meeting <br />broadcasts from the Council <br />Chambers. <br />• Conducted a public hearing <br />and considered an amendment <br />to a March 25, 2019 ordinance <br />change that banned the sale of <br />flavored tobacco products. The <br />Benchmarks: A Review of Recent City Council Action <br />proposed amendment exempted <br />any adult-only tobacco <br />establishment whose license <br />was in existence on or before <br />March 25, 2019 from the flavor <br />restriction. The amendment <br />did not pass. The Council did, <br />however, extend the compliance <br />date for the removal of flavored <br />tobacco products to December <br />31, 2019. <br />July 22, 2019 <br />• Appointed Joseph Hartmann as <br />Associate Planner beginning in <br />August 2019. <br />Homeowners who live adjacent to <br />city parks and trails are required <br />to remove any private property <br />from city-owned trails. <br />To help preserve and protect <br />shared parks and trails, city staff <br />want to work with neighbors and <br />others who enjoy our parks to <br />clarify boundaries and promote <br />proper use of park lands. <br />Along the edges of city parks and <br />trails it can be easy to encroach <br />into public lands. <br />Examples of intrusions include <br />placing a shed or fire pit across <br />your property line, building <br />a fence on city property, or <br />Preserve Public Spaces: Keep Private Property Off City-Owned Park Land <br />• Conducted a public hearing and <br />approved the site plan review, <br />final planned unit development, <br />rezoning, comprehensive plan <br />amendment and the preliminary <br />and conditional use permits <br />for Summit Development to <br />construct a three-story, 120-unit <br />senior housing building. <br />• Awarded a contract for the <br />tennis court improvements at <br />Cummings and Royal Hills <br />Parks to prevent surfaces from <br />deteriorating. <br />For a complete and detailed listing <br />of recent City Council action, visit <br />cityofardenhills.org and click on <br />View Agendas & Minutes. <br />throwing lawn and yard <br />waste alongside a trail <br />instead of taking it to <br />the yard waste facility. <br />These activities are <br />essentially privatizing <br />what should be public <br />open space and are <br />prohibited. <br />If you have encroached <br />into public land, please <br />take the necessary <br />corrective action. <br />Thank you in advance <br />for preserving parks and <br />trails for all to enjoy.
