Business Briefs <br />Consider Ways to Divert Rain From Stormdrains <br />Residential landscaping projects <br />can help decrease stormwater runoff <br />and pollution. Consider installing <br />the following projects: <br />Permeable Pavement - Traditional <br />concrete and asphalt don’t allow <br />water to soak into the ground. <br />Instead these surfaces rely on storm <br />drains to divert unwanted water. <br />Permeable pavement systems allow <br />rain and snowmelt to soak through, <br />decreasing stormwater runoff. <br />Rain Gardens & Grassy Swale <br />Specially designed areas planted <br />with native plants can provide <br />natural places for rainwater to <br />collect and soak into the ground. <br />Rain from rooftop areas or paved <br />areas can be diverted into these <br />areas rather than into storm drains. <br />Vegetated Filter Strips - Filter <br />strips are areas of native grass or <br />plants created along roadways or <br />streams. They trap the pollutants <br />stormwater picks up as it flows <br />across driveways and streets. <br />Article: Environmental Protection Agency <br />Hundreds of Mounds <br />View High School <br />students are crossing <br />Valentine Road to get to <br />and from the high school <br />in the morning and <br />afternoon. <br />Please drive with caution and stop <br />for pedestrians. Crosswalks and <br />signs are in place. <br />A portion of the parking lot has <br />been permanently relocated across <br />Slow Down and Stop for Students at Mounds View High School <br />the street at the former <br />school bus garage. <br />The parking change <br />is part of the district's <br />high school renovation <br />plans, which also <br />include a new two- <br />story classroom building and a <br />three-story classroom addition, <br />a gymnasium, fitness center and <br />more. Construction is scheduled for <br />completion in fall of 2021. <br />Tennis Court Repairs and Park Buckthorn Removal Underway <br />The city is repairing tennis courts at <br />Cummings Park to prevent surfaces <br />from deteriorating.
