This change in depth would have caused a
substantial increase in project cost for the necessary removal of this material. Therefore, the
Engineer designed an alternative to place the retaining wall on a Helical pile support system to
mitigate the change in soil conditions encountered.
During the construction of the drilled water main, the City requested that the contractor pull two
wires with the Water main to ensure a backup wire is available to locate the water main if needed.
This request was made after a wire broke on one segment of the installed watermain requiring
the contractor to drill a new wire and then dig down to connect to the existing wire for locating the
watermain. Therefore, the Contractor started pulling two wires along the remaining sections of
watermain that had not been install on the project and they drilled a new wire along the stretch of
pipe where the tracer wire had broken and dug down to connect the new wire to the existing.
During the construction of the project is was determined that the existing pavement markings
were conflicting with the project detour traffic control. Therefore, the engineer directed the
Contractor to remove the existing project striping that conflicted with the project traffic control
plan. The contractor agreed to this extra work to remove the striping on the project, the pricing
shown below includes all necessary mobilization, additional traffic control, and labor for flagging
required to complete the work.
During the first stage of construction it was discovered that most of the existing pavement
removal was substantially thicker than what was found in the borings. This included thicker
bituminous pavement and an underlying concrete pavement with reinforcing. The contractor
requested to be compensated for the changed condition and the extra work necessary to remove
the concrete pavement and extra bituminous.
"Group/
funding
Category
® •
Item No.
e• . .• a
Description
Unit
•re •r e •
i
i Unit Price
e
+ or—
Quantity
+ or—
Amount $
4
2411.61 E
Helical Piles
Each
1015.00
77*
$78,155.00*
Prime markup on Subcontractors
10%+2%
$5,563.10
4
2504.603
Additional tracer wire installed with WM
LF
$ 0.62
3383
$ 2,097.46
4
2504.603
Drill tracer wire along WM and connect
LS
$3,750
1
$ 3,750.00
Prime markup on Subcontractors
10%
$ 584.75
Page 1 of 2
