1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />Position Title: Communications Coordinator <br />Department: Administration <br />Accountable to: City Administrator <br />Positions Supervised: None <br />Status: Part-time 20 – 25 hours per week <br /> May 2017 <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVES <br />The Communications Coordinator is responsible for writing and coordinating day-to-day communications and <br />marketing activities on behalf of the City of Arden Hills to City Departments, other governmental organizations, <br />media outlets, community groups and citizens. This position will be responsible for the writing, design, and <br />compilation of the City’s Newsletter. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for writing and <br />appropriately disseminating information regarding routine civic activities and large scale projects, such as, the <br />TCAAP redevelopment project. The position will apply professional principles and judgment to assist with <br />planning, leadership, operations and administration of the branding, marketing, and communications for the City <br />of Arden Hills. <br />QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS <br />To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable <br />accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION <br />Coordinate the City’s print, digital, cable, and web services to meet the goals, objectives, and timelines of the City <br />Council and departments. <br /> <br />Create, write, and maintain consistent communications material to ensure uniformity in internal and external City <br />communications including but not limited to the City’s Newsletter. <br /> <br />Write, copy, coordinate, and update the City’s website as needed to ensure up-to-date information is being <br />distributed as required. <br /> <br />Ensure the City is compliant with Federal, State, and Local laws relating to the City’s communication to include <br />website accessibility for individuals with disabilities (Section 508). <br /> <br />Assist in the development and implementation of the City’s communication plan to include routine and ad hoc <br />communications. <br /> <br />Coordinate between City Departments to compile the City’s Newsletter, official mailings, and press releases. <br /> <br />Respond to media inquiries at the direction of the City Administrator or responsible Department Head. <br /> <br />Assist the Community Development Department in creating , writing, and distributing information regarding the <br />State of the City, open houses, and other informational events put on by the City. <br /> <br /> Attachment A
