Parks, Trails & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes February 18, 2020 <br />Page 2 <br />Chair Straumann noted that they don’t want to ask the same businesses for donations every time <br />so the list is continually evolving. <br />Discussion continued regarding previous projects that were done with donation money. <br />B.Park Bench Inventory <br />Chair Straumann gave a brief history of the park bench program. <br />Staff Liaison Knoll said staff will be taking inventory of benches, noting benches that need to be <br />replaced, and updating the map. <br />Discussion ensued noting locations of benches not on the current map, and a potential bench in <br />honor of Chuck Michaelson. <br />C.Playground Replacement <br />Staff Liaison Knoll noted the playgrounds scheduled to be replaced in 2020 are Arden Oaks Park <br />and Arden Manor Park. Staff will be doing an inventory of the worst playgrounds in Arden Hills <br />and these may be reprioritized. <br />Committee Member Anderson said she can get in contact with a daycare provider near Arden <br />Oaks, let her know the equipment will be replaced and ask if she has any input for the new <br />equipment. <br />Staff Liaison Knoll explained that staff is asking what type of outreach the Committee would like <br />to get the word out the residents. <br />It was decided to do a mailing to residents first and see what response it generates. <br />Staff Liaison Knoll said Floral Park tennis and basketball courts are also scheduled to be <br />reconstructed this year but staff will be evaluating before proceeding. <br />Discussion ensued regarding the possibility of closing the Floral Park tennis courts or adding <br />pickleball courts. <br />D.2020 Spring/Summer Recreation Guide <br />Staff Liaison Knoll said the Parks and Recreation Department has been busy putting the 2020 <br />Spring/Summer Recreation Guide edits together for the upcoming season. There will be new senior <br />trips and they are partnering with the City of Shoreview for a senior housing fair on April 21. The <br />guide should be in mailboxes mid-March. <br />E.Trail Crossing, I-694 Update <br />Chair Straumann said there was a meeting of the Active Living Ramsey Communities Bike Walk <br />Team. You can currently Trail cross I-694 at Lexington or under I-694 on Old Highway 10/ <br />Snelling Ave N - however, at this time, a Trail is not established along the route.
