for all three catch basins; replacement of damaged/removed median concrete; and restoring
approximately 600 square yards of street pavement.
Unfortunately, the repairs are located along the segment of Round Lake Road having a center
median. Temporary traffic control will be required to guide both northbound and southbound
traffic through the northbound lane. The temporary lane closure will extend approximately two to
three days. A portable signal system is proposed to manage the lane closures during day and night
hours.
Staff worked with Valley Rich Company to prepare a proposal for the repairs as provided in
Attachment C. Valley Rich performs water main break repairs and other urgent repair projects for
the City. The estimated repair costs total $23,600.
Budget Impact
The 2020 Operating Budget for the Surface Water Utility includes $65,000 for repairs to drainage
system infrastructure. To date, storm sewer repair work for the 2020 street overlay and the 2020
concrete repairs has encumbered approximately $53,800 of the repair funds. Approximately
$11,200 remains available for the proposed storm sewer repairs along Round Lake Road. The
recommended repairs would exceed the budget line item by $12,400.00. The 2020 budget also
includes $25,000 for repairs & maintenance — equipment of which nothing has been spent to date.
Staff is proposing to utilize $12,400 of this amount to cover the balance of the project costs.
Attachments
Attachment A: Location Map
Attachment B: Photos of Existing Conditions
Attachment C: Proposal from Valley Rich
