They identify future land use, <br />infrastructure, parks, housing and economic development strategies and tactics, and the plans <br />looks forward for a twenty-year horizon. Cities in the seven-county area are required to update <br />their Comprehensive Plan every ten years following the publication of System Statements by the <br />Metropolitan Council. Arden Hills received its System Statement on September 17, 2015. <br />Following the community planning process conducted in the years 2016 through 2018 involving <br />elected officials, appointed officials, city staff, the public at large, and other stakeholders, the <br />City submitted its 2040 Comprehensive Plan to the Metropolitan Council on January 14, 2019. <br />On November 13, 2019, the Metropolitan Council completed its formal review of the 2040 <br />Comprehensive Plan. The Arden Hills City Council formally approved the 2040 Comprehensive <br />Plan on November 25, 2019. <br /> <br />Implementation <br /> <br />Upon official adoption, a city is generally required to amend the official controls (i.e. zoning, <br />subdivision, and other ordinances) to bring the City ordinances into conformance with the <br />Comprehensive Plan. While a few tweaks may be needed, significant changes to the zoning and
