MN Mechanical Fuel and gas code <br />Section 505 Domestic kitchen exhaust equipment <br />505.1 Domestic systems. <br />a. Where domestic range hoods and domestic appliances equipped with down <br />draft exhaust are located with-in dwellings, the hoods and appliances shall <br />dis-charge to the outdoors through ducts constructed of galvanized steel, <br />stainless, aluminum, or copper. The ducts shall have smooth inner walls and <br />shall be air tight and equipped with a back draft damper. Domestic kitchen <br />exhaust hoods ducted to the outdoors shall have make-up air provided <br />according to the Minnesota Rules, part 1346.0501. Refer to part <br />1346.6010 for Table C-1, “Recommended Capacities for Domestic Kitchen <br />Exhaust Hoods”. <br /> <br />70. 505.2 Make up air required <br />a. Exhaust hood systems capable of exhausting in access of 400 C.F.M. shall be <br />provided with make-up air at a rate of approximately equal to the exhaust <br />rate. Such makeup air systems shall be equipped with a means of closure and <br />shall be automatically controlled to start and operate simultaneously with the <br />exhaust system. <br /> <br />71. Drain tile is not addressed on plans. Verify that existing drain tile is functional, <br />and provide new drain tile system to sump or daylight as needed. <br /> <br />72. Dryer venting typically has a maximum straight run of 35’. Deduct 5’ for each <br />ninety degree bend and 2’-6” for every 45 degree elbow. Verify that dryer units <br />selected conform with this requirement or are designed for extended length runs <br />as per [M] 614.6.5.1 <br /> <br />DECK <br />73. Please note that these are general comments regarding the current condition of <br />the exterior decks. These comments may not be all inclusive and cover all areas <br />of concern. City staff recommends the condo association consult with an engineer <br />on how best to support the deck systems. <br /> <br />74. Refer to Deck Hand out. <br /> <br />75. Lumber with-in 18” of the ground must be rated for ground contact. <br /> <br />76. If bottom of framing is with-in 36” or less of the ground a framing inspection <br />must be scheduled and pass prior to covering of structure. <br /> <br />77. Verify cantilevered support. Attachment at rim joist to adequately support <br />maximum loads at opposite end. <br /> <br />78. All rotted wood must be replaced and the framing inspected prior to re-covering a <br />deck. <br />
