1 <br /> <br /> <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />Position Title: Assistant Public Works Director <br />Department: Public Works <br />Accountable to: Public Works Director <br />Positions Supervised: Recreation Supervisor <br />Status: Regular Full Time <br /> November 2021 <br /> <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVES <br />Performs difficult professional work planning, design and inspection of City infrastructure and capital projects, <br />reviewing plans and specifications for public and private infrastructure improvement projects, reviewing site <br />development plans, coordinating field issues with City staff, assisting the general public with Public Works <br />related matters, manages and continuously develops the City’s asset management system, and related work <br />as apparent or assigned. This is position will be expected to perform extensive field work to include project <br />planning, project inspection and day-to-day field operations. Supervision is exercised over the Recreation <br />Supervisor. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Public Works Director/City Engineer. <br />Limited oversight is exercised over interns. Reasonable <br />accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION <br />At the direction of the Public Works Director/City Engineer, performs project inspections for public and private <br />improvement projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and contract requirements, including <br />coordination with City staff, consultants, contractors and the public. <br /> <br />Assists the Public Works Director/City Engineer with managing day-to-day field operations and working closely <br />with the Public Work Superintendent on services delivery. <br /> <br />Provides supervision and direction to the Recreation Supervisor. <br /> <br />Assists the Public Works Director/City Engineer on the oversight of Parks and Trails long-term project planning, <br />budget planning, and maintenance operations. <br /> <br />Maintains/manages the City’s ICON Pavement Management System for City streets and trails. This would <br />include maintaining the up-to-date rating of the City streets and trails together with the historical ratings. <br />Overseeing/performing the rerating of City streets and trails on a 3-year cycle. Works with the Public Works <br />Director to provide recommendations for the street or trail reconstruction/rehabilitation/maintenance CIP. <br /> <br />Assists in the implementation of City ordinances and programs including MS4 permitting and compliance; <br />Grading and Erosion Control management; Right-of-Way management by reviewing plans and permit <br />applications, issuing permits, performing inspections and providing coordination with City staff, contractors and <br />the public. <br /> <br /> Attachment A
