DATE: November 22, 2021 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br />SUBJECT: Appointment of Steve Thorp to the Building Official Position <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />N/A N/A N/A <br />Council Should Consider <br />Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br />•Appointment of Steve Thorp to the position of Building Official at Grade 15 Step 9 on the <br />City’s pay scale, and at 37 months on the PTO scale, or seven hours per pay period. All other <br />normal benefits apply. <br />All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted. <br />Discussion <br />Steve Thorp was the finalist of three candidates for the Building Official position. He has a plethora <br />of experience as Building Official, and has worked for cities such as, Blaine, Scandia and Mounds <br />View as a Building Inspector or Building Official. Most recently he has worked as a consultant <br />serving a number of smaller cities performing Building Official work.
