11 <br /> <br /> <br />union plan remains a family plan. If the Union were to offer a single insurance plan, then the <br />dollar amount would match the total single insurance dollar contribution for non-union employees <br />for those union employees electing the single plan, the family contribution would remain the same. <br />At no point will the City’s contribution exceed the cost of the Union’s monthly insurance, if the <br />monthly premium is less than the City contribution the City will contribute the lesser amount. <br />22.2 Employees may participate, at their own expense, in additional life insurance as an add- <br />on to City sponsored plans approved under the EMPLOYER'S current insurance provider. <br /> <br />22.3 It is understood that the EMPLOYER'S only obligation is to pay the EMPLOYER <br />contribution for group insurance premiums as agreed to herein. The EMPLOYER is not liable for <br />claims as a result of a denial of insurance benefits by an insurance carrier. <br />ARTICLE XXIII — HOLIDAYS <br />23.1 The EMPLOYER will provide twelve (12) paid holidays as follows: <br />Holiday Observance Day <br /> <br />New Year’s Day January 1 <br />Martin Luther King Day Third Monday in January <br />Presidents' Day Third Monday in February <br />Memorial Day Last Monday in May <br />Independence Day July 4 <br />Labor Day First Monday in September <br />Veterans Day November 11 <br />Thanksgiving Day Fourth Thursday in November <br />Thanksgiving Day After Fourth Friday in November <br />Christmas Eve Day December 24 <br />Christmas Day December 25 <br />New Year's Eve Day December 31 <br /> <br />23.2 In the event that New Year's Day, Independence Day, Veteran's Day, or Christmas Day <br />fall on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be a paid holiday. If any of the preceding <br />holidays fall on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be a paid holiday. <br />23.3 Employees required to work on a designated holiday shall be compensated one and <br />one-half (1.5) times their base hourly pay rate for each hour worked, plus Holiday pay. <br />Employees required to work on the actual holiday shall be compensated two (2) times <br />their base hourly pay rate for each hour worked plus holiday pay if the actual holiday <br />qualifies for holiday pay in section 23 1. <br />ARTICLE XXIV — UNIFORMS <br />24.1 The Employer shall provide each employee with an annual uniform allowance of six <br />hundred twenty five dollars ($625.00) and an ANSI approved safety boot allowance of <br />two-hundred dollars ($200.00). <br />24.2 Employees shall purchase ANSI approved safety boots and uniforms from the same <br />vendor not to exceed the maximum allowance. Uniforms are to be approved by the <br />Public Works Director.
