Page 1 <br /> <br />DATE: December 13, 2021 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> <br />FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Removal of Committee and Commission Members Beyond Their Term Limit <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />N/A N/A N/A <br /> Council Should Consider <br /> Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br /> <br />• Removal of Committee and Commission Members that are beyond their three consecutive, <br />three-year term limit Effective December 31, 2021 <br />All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted. <br /> Discussion <br /> The City Council recently discussed how to proceed with Committee and Commission members that <br />are beyond their three consecutive, three-year term limit. Per City Ordinance (below), members <br />serving on a Committee or Commission may not serve more than three consecutive terms. <br /> <br />Subd. 7 Length of Term. Unless otherwise specifically provided, each Member of any Board, Committee, Commission <br />or other appointed body shall serve for a term of three (3) years. <br /> A. Number of Terms. Each Member may serve for no more than three (3) consecutive three-year terms. <br /> B. Staggered Terms. One-third of each Board, Committee, Commission or other appointed body shall be appointed <br />at the beginning of each fiscal year. <br />Subd. 8 Removal of Members. Any Member of a Board, Committee, Commission or other appointed body may be <br />removed by a majority vote of the entire City Council. <br /> <br />Following discussion, the Council decided to follow the City’s ordinance and directed Staff to <br />prepare the necessary agenda item to remove Committee and Commission Members that are currently <br />serving beyond their term limits effective December 31, 2021.
