Discussion The City Council recently discussed how to proceed with Committee and Commission members that are beyond their three consecutive, three-year term limit. Per City Ordinance (below), members serving on a Committee or Commission may not serve more than three consecutive terms. Subd. 7 Length of Term. Unless otherwise specifically provided, each Member of any Board, Committee, Commission or other appointed body shall serve for a term of three (3) years. A. Number of Terms. Each Member may serve for no more than three (3) consecutive three-year terms. B. Staggered Terms. One-third of each Board, Committee, Commission or other appointed body shall be appointed at the beginning of each fiscal year. Subd. 8 Removal of Members. Any Member of a Board, Committee, Commission or other appointed body may be removed by a majority vote of the entire City Council. Following discussion, the Council decided to follow the City’s ordinance and directed Staff to prepare the necessary agenda item to remove Committee and Commission Members that are currently serving beyond their term limits effective December 31, 2021. Note: this does not apply to alternate members of committees/commissions. CONSENT ITEM – 6O MEMORANDUM
