2 <br /> <br />Prepares the operating budget for programs, and reviews the financial status of programs to ensure proper <br />financial control. <br /> <br />Keeps the director informed of any issues and concerns in the department. <br /> <br />Responsible for the preparation of scheduled activities on fields/parks, ice rinks, special equipment or set up. <br /> <br />Prepares the programming guide. <br /> <br />Prepares program flyers and press releases for programs. <br /> <br />Serves as staff liaison to the PTRC <br /> <br />Primary contact for youth sport associations and vendors <br /> <br />Assists the Director and Superintendent with filing, data entry and special projects. <br /> <br />EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE <br />Associates/Technical degree and moderate experience organizing and conducting youth and adult recreation <br />activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience. <br /> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Thorough knowledge of recreation administration principles and practices; thorough knowledge of the <br />equipment and techniques necessary to successfully conduct recreation programs; thorough knowledge of the <br />methods involved in organizing, conducting, promoting and supervising recreation activities; some knowledge <br />of first aid methods and necessary safety precautions to be used in recreation work; ability to plan, organize <br />and implement a variety of recreation programs; ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinates; ability <br />to communicate ideas effectively in both oral and written formats; ability to prepare reports and maintain <br />records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, associates <br />and the general public. <br /> <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or <br />hearing and repetitive motions, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting and using hands to finger, handle <br />or feel and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with <br />hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is <br />required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important <br />instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken <br />word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating <br />motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires <br />exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires exposure to blood-borne pathogens and <br />may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy <br />location (e.g. business office, light traffic). <br /> <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />CPR/First Aid Certification within six months of hire. <br />Valid Class D Driver's license. <br /> <br />SELECTION GUIDELINES <br />Formal application, rating of education and experience; oral interview and reference check; job related tests may <br />be required.
