Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />CONSENT ITEM – 2A <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: March 21, 2022 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: David Swearingen, Public Works Director/City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: 2022 Street Maintenance Program <br /> <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> $220,000 $ TBD Street Maintenance Fund <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br /> <br />• Resolution 2022-015, recommending that the City of Coon Rapids Award a Contract <br />for the 2022 Street Maintenance Program. <br /> <br />All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />In 2005, a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) for Traffic Markings, Street Sweeping, Crack Sealing, <br />Screening, and Seal Coating was executed by the cities of Coon Rapids, Andover, Brooklyn <br />Center, Columbia Heights, and Fridley. Since 2005, six additional cities have joined the joint <br />powers agreement (Ham Lake, East Bethel, Anoka, Mahtomedi, Circle Pines and Mounds <br />View). On December 11, 2017, the City Council authorized an amendment to the JPA to include <br />the City of Arden Hills. <br />The City of Coon Rapids solicited bids in February 2022 for sealcoating, pavement markings, <br />crack sealing and fog sealing on behalf of the member cities. Bids were opened on March 11, <br />2022, and summarized in the bid tabulation provided in Attachment A.
