The Board Supports Option #2 – <br />Phase 1 –Hire 6 Full-Time Captains <br />•The Board directed the Fire Department to apply for a SAFER Grant through <br />FEMA for the Phase 1. <br />•The grant would pay 100% of the wages/benefits for 3 years ($2.4M). <br />•The 2022 SAFER Grants are expected to start being awarded in August 2022. <br />•Departments (Cities) will have 30 days from the date of award to accept the <br />award or lose the grant funding.
