To better connect neighborhoods with existing parks, several pedestrian <br /> connections are planned. Completing connections will help to increase the <br /> opportunities for recreation and transportation. <br /> Two (2) residential areas in the community are outside of the 1/2 mile service <br /> area for neighborhood parks. These are (a) the area on the southeast side of <br /> Round Lake and (b) the area on the southeast side of Lake Johanna. These two <br /> areas will be effectively connected when the trail system is completed, allowing <br /> access to existing facilities. <br /> IV. PARK AND T"I� IMPROVEMENTS <br /> PARKS <br /> South of Highway #96 <br /> The developed portion of the City is well served by neighborhood parks, as <br /> shown in Map 5.1 and Table 5.1. No new neighborhood parks are planned for <br /> the already develope?a:-ea of Arden Hills. Improvements to neighborhood parks <br /> are determined o an armual basis, through the annual budgeting process. <br /> TCAAP Area <br /> The TCAAP area«ill include a series of integrated parks and trails. This system <br /> v6ll serve new residents and «ill physically and socially connect the existing, <br /> developed portion of the City with the TCAAP area as it develops. <br /> The park system has been identified in the TCAAP area on Map 5.1. The system <br /> includes: <br /> • Four (4) neighborhood parks to be relatively evenly spread through the <br /> residential are -,. eichborhood parks will be 5-20 acres in size and are <br /> intended for active play. <br /> • A Joint Athliric Facility - to be de eloped by the cities of Arden Hills, <br /> Mo'ands View,zw Biighton, Shore-,iew, and School District i�62 1. <br /> • A Community Park, to be developed in the Civic Center area near <br /> Lexington and uig-h-way -96. This park is intended as a community <br /> gathering pla7e fir festivals, concerts and events, as well as standard park <br /> activities. <br /> • The Park Preserve, consisting of approximately 1,100 acres will become a <br /> public regional amenity of outstanding value.
