CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
• MEMORANDUM
DATE: May 13, 1998
TO: Parks and Recreation Commission /
FROM: Cindy S. Walsh, Parks and Recreation Director
SUBJECT: May Agenda Report
Park Fund Budget
I am in the process of getting cost estimates for the park and trail priorities that we established
last meeting. I will have those numbers available for discussion at the meeting.
Day in the Park Assignments
Tracy and I would like the Commission members to volunteer to help with the Day in the Park
events on June 6. A sign up sheet listing the various events will be available at the meeting. If
you cannot attend the meeting, please call Tracy to volunteer for an activity.
Trail and Park Comprehensive Plan
I will have a revised copy of the proposed map showing the trail connections and future park
improvements. I am hoping that the Commission will make a final recommendation to approve
the map. The text portion of the Comprehensive Plan will be sent to Commission members for
approval at a later date.
Director's Report
A. Possible Sheehy Property Opportunities for Park or Trail Development
As you may recall, the City acquired a parcel of property located south of Lake Johanna between
Ridgewood Road and Snelling Avenue from Mr. Sheehy. I would like the Commission to
consider possible park uses for this parcel of property.
B. Joint Athletic Facility Planning Update
The Cities and School District continue to meet about providing new facilities and improving
existing facilities. I will keep the Commission updated as the process continues.
C. Tony Schmidt Park Service Radius
I would like to have the Commission discuss the area that the redeveloped Ramsey County Park
will serve. I am particularly interested in discussing the play structure equipment that will be
constricted at the park and how that may impact the City's decision to but new equipment at our
nearby Sampson Park.
•
