MINUTES <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br /> PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1997 <br /> 6:30 - 7:30 P.M. <br /> ARMY RESERVE CENTER <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chair Kreidler called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Present were Chair Lynette Kreidler, Megan Ricke, Don Messerly, Dorothy McClung, <br /> Anita Larson, Jim Johnson, Mary Robinson, Don Messerly, Lou Speggen, Tracy Petersen; <br /> Program Supervisor, Cindy Walsh; Parks and Recreation Director and Council Liaison; <br /> Susan Keim. <br /> APPROVE MINUTES <br /> Dorothy McClung made a motion to approve the September 30, 1997, Minutes which was <br /> • seconded by Anita Larson and passed unanimously. <br /> TONY SCHMIDT PARK TASK FORCE <br /> Jim Johnson and Gregg Larson, Arden Hills Planning Commission updated the Commission on <br /> the first meeting of the Tony Schmidt Task Force. The Task Force has an aggressive schedule <br /> with some park tours/meetings on Saturday mornings in November and December. The group <br /> intends to have a Master Plan Development by January 5, 1998. On January 5, 1998, there will <br /> be a meeting hosted by Ramsey County and the Task Force to allow the public to review the <br /> plan. <br /> At the first meeting, Sanders, Wacker, Bergly, the consultant firm, presented a landscape of <br /> what is currently at the park and where the park boundaries extended to. Tony Schmidt Park <br /> currently covers 200 acres. <br /> The Task Force is brainstorming for the Master Plan and on November 10, 1997, the Task <br /> Force will be going through a S.W.O.T. exercise (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and <br /> Threats). <br /> Gregg Larson, City Commission representative on the Tony Schmidt Park Task Force, <br /> mentioned that the northern half of the park currently has no identity. Mr. Larson feels that the <br /> • mission of the Task Force is to come up with a general master plan for the County. The County <br /> would like to begin construction this summer. <br />
