10. A picnic area with degree of development depending on neigh- borhood needs and space available. These facilities should have a high priority and be installed as soon as possible. At least one park in each neighborhood will contain these facilities. Two neighborhoods, the North Josephine Area and the Village Hall Area, contain two relatively widely separated parks, each of which wlII contain these type of facilities. Oni-. one In each area, however, wlII have a warming house associated with the general skating area. 2. Baseball and scftball fields are to be of four types, as follows: a. Regulati-on Baseball Fields - With five baseball fields available in the community (Mounds View High School , Johanna Middle School (2) Northwestern and Bethel Colleges) we are not recommending new base- bal_I facilities within the next ten years. b. Adult Softball Fields - Six fields suitable for adult softball are now in existence (Mounds View High School (2), and Perry Park (4) . At present, Arden Hilts' based teams are using approximately 41 game/practice time slots per four-day week. With two time slots available per day, this indicates a capacity use of over five fields at present. We are recommending a field of this size at Cummings Park to accommodate the anticipated increase in Industrial teams, contingent upon determination of Council policy toward provision of facilities. for industrial teams. Location for this site was chosen to make use of existing parking at Control Data (negotiation has not been undertaken for its use as yet). Although. serving future Mutual Services teams might be desirable, nearby Hunter's Park is not suitable for a requiation-sized field, and could accommodate an informal neighborhood field only. c. School Softball Fields - Four fields suitable for youth league softball oars now Exist in Arden Hills or immediately outside its boundaries, (ViddIe School (2), Valentine Hilts School (2) . The condition of these fields limit_ their use primarily to youth games and practices. d. Neighborhood Park Fields - Currently neighborhood park fields exist at Arden Manor Park, Floral Park, Valentine Park, Freeway Triangle and Ingerson Park. Ir order to fulfill the stated goal of an area suitable for et least informal games in each neighborhood, we recommend areas of this type be graded at Hunters, Cu.wiings, Hazelnut End North Snelling Park within the next few years. 3. Football-Soccer (Multipurpose Fields) Currently, multipurpose fields suitable for football , soccer or other games exist at Floral and Perry Parks. Three other fields (Mounds View High School (2) and Johanna Middle School ) within the city are available at times. Other than that, no new fields are recommended within the next ten years.
