If school space is available, <br /> these after school programs will be expanded to include <br /> Island Lake students this Fall. <br /> Elementary track continues to be a popular Spring activity. <br /> Over 100 children signed up for track at Valentine Hills <br /> School and 161 signed up at Island Lake School. <br /> Summer Program <br /> Severtson reviewed the new programs being offered this Summer, <br /> which include: <br /> Beginning Ball Skills 4 & 5 year olds <br /> Ceramics 4 & 5 year olds <br /> 1st-6th grade <br /> Candlemaking 1st-6th grade <br /> Fishing 2nd-6th grade <br /> Penny Carnival all ages <br /> Day Camp (one week) 2nd-6th grade <br /> Co-ed Sandlot Volleyball teen league <br /> Gateway Gardens <br /> Buckley updated the Commission on the progress of the gateway <br /> • gardens. Arden Hills teen Aaron Boeckermann (Eagle Scout <br /> candidate) will research, plant and maintain the gateway flower <br /> beds the entire summer as part of his community service <br /> requirements for Eagle Scout award. <br /> Gateway flower beds will be located at City Hall, TH 96 and <br /> Lexington, Lexington and Co. Rd. E (2 beds - McGuires corner and <br /> C.G. Rein office bldg. corner) , Co. Rd. F & Hamline, Co. Rd. E & <br /> Old Hwy. 10, Co. Rd. D & Lake Johanna Blvd. (Sutton Place) . <br /> County Road E Flower Beautification <br /> Buckley reported that the County Road E businesses have been <br /> enthusiastically supportive of the flower beautification project <br /> for "Main Street" . The Parks Department will coordinate <br /> construction of the flower beds, purchase timbers for the <br /> borders, and deliver the flowers. Businesses will pay the cost <br /> of the beds and flowers as well as provide labor. All the <br /> businesses plan to plant their flower beds on Saturday, May 19. <br /> McGuires will provide a pancake breakfast for the volunteers at <br /> 8 : 30 A.M. Master gardeners will be available for planting <br /> instructions. Mayor Sather will kick-off the planting. <br /> Volunteers will then disperse to their garden sites to plant <br /> flowers. <br /> Arbor Day City Clean-up <br /> The annual Arden Hills Arbor Day celebration will take place on <br />
