Fridley Minimum 6 ft <br />Fencing shall meet the following criteria: <br />(1) The fencing shall prevent the entrance of children and be without hand or <br />foot holds that would enable a person to climb over it. <br />(2) The fencing shall be at least six (6) feet high and entrances shall be equipped <br />with self-closing and self-latching gates capable of being locked. <br />(3) Self-closing or self-latching devices shall be placed at the top of the gate or <br />otherwise inaccessible to small children. <br />(4) The opening between the bottom of the fence and the ground or other <br />surface shall be not more than four (4) inches. <br />Columbia Heights Minimum 5 ft <br />All fence openings or points of entry into the pool area enclosure shall be <br />equipped with gates. The fence and gates shall be at least five feet in height and <br />shall be constructed of a minimum number 11-gauge woven wire mesh <br />corrosion-resistant material, or other material approved by the Building Official. <br />All gates shall be equipped with self-closing and self-latching devices placed at <br />the top of the gate, at least five feet above the base of the gate, or, in the <br />judgment of the Building Official, equally inaccessible to small children. All fence <br />posts shall be decay or corrosion-resistant and shall be set in concrete bases or, <br />alternatively, three and one-half by three and one-half creosote soaked posts <br />buried to a depth of at least three feet tamped soil. The opening between the <br />bottom of the fence and the ground or other surface shall not be more than four <br />inches. <br />Falcon Heights Minimum 4 ft <br />Pools shall be completely enclosed with four-foot fencing which shall effectively <br />prevent the entrance of children and be without external hand or foot holds that <br />would enable a child to climb over it. Chainlink fence may be used. Fencing of <br />aboveground pools shall not be required if the poolsides meet the fence <br />stipulations above and it is provided with a removable ladder. <br />The fence openings shall be equipped with self-closing gates and self-latching <br />devices. All the openings shall be inaccessible to small children and at least four <br />feet from ground level. In the alternative, the perimeter of the yard, including <br />driveway entrance, may be fenced and enclosed. The opening between the <br />bottom of the fence and gates and the ground shall be no more than four <br />inches. <br />This requirement does not apply to aboveground pools if the walls are at least <br />four feet abovegrade. <br />New Brighton Minimum 4 ft <br />Private swimming pools, hot tubs and spas, containing water more than 24 <br />inches (610 mm) in depth shall be completely surrounded by a fence or barrier <br />at least 48 inches (1219 mm) in height above the finished ground level <br />measured on the side of the barrier away from the pool. Gates and doors in such <br />barriers shall be self-closing and self-latching. Where the self-latching device is a <br />minimum of 54 inches (1372 mm) above the bottom of the gate, the release <br />mechanism shall be located on the pool side of the gate. Self-closing and self- <br />latching gates shall be maintained such that the gate will positively close and <br />latch when released from an open position of 6 inches (152 mm) from the <br />gatepost. No existing pool enclosure shall be removed, replaced, or changed in a <br />manner that reduces its effectiveness as a safety barrier. <br />Exception. Spas or hot tubs with a safety cover that complies with ASTM F 1346 <br />(as may be amended) shall be exempt from the provisions of 27-2(2)(A).
