c <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> • PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING <br /> MINUTES, JANUARY 23, 1990 <br /> Call to Order <br /> The regular meeting of the Arden Hills Park and Recreation Commission was <br /> called to order at 7:40 P.M. by Chairman David Sand. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Present: Chairman David Sand, Dorothy McClung, and Don Messerly. <br /> Absent <br /> Keith Enrooth, Tom Mulcahy, Mary Gillies, Alan Montgomery, and Pattie <br /> Green. <br /> Also Present <br /> Mayor Tom Sather, visitor Mark Magers and Parks Director John Buckley. <br /> Chair Sand introduced Mr. Magers to the Committee. Mr. Magers lives at <br /> 4521 Keithson Drive and stated he was greatly impressed with the quick <br /> response and genuine concern Mayor Sather gave his neighborhood regarding <br /> construction development problems. He decided to volunteer for City <br /> committee service. The committee heartily welcomed his interest. <br /> MINUTE APPROVAL Minutes of the October 24 meeting were approved as <br /> mailed. <br /> • COUNCIL R:�iORT Mayor Sather reported: <br /> The gambling industry in Minnesota is becoming a billion dollar <br /> industry and still growing. It has grown too fast. The legislature <br /> will have to provide more staff and funding to properly regulate the <br /> State's gambling industry. <br /> - Council passed a charitable gambling ordinance where the City would <br /> receive 10% of the profits from all license holders operating in the <br /> City. Originally, charities could designate where the monies would be <br /> given. The present ordinance states that the City will designate the <br /> use. <br /> PROGRAM SUPERVISOR 104 applications had been received for this position <br /> UPDATE which are being evaluated by using the following <br /> criteria: Education, Work Expeience, Supervisory <br /> Experience and Personal Interests and Skills. Eight to ten applicants <br /> will be interviewed on Feb. 15 and 16. With Council approval, person will <br /> start in March. <br /> ARSENAL ATHLETIC The Arsenal athletic field project is presently on <br /> FIELD hold until the Arsenal can get soil and water envir- <br /> onmental clearance. <br /> 1989 REVIEW OF $80,785 was budgeted in 1989 for park development. <br /> PARK DEV.
