Property for Sale at Snail Lake Marsh <br /> *Mr. Mack said Mr. Lance Hill, property owner adjacent to the Snail Lake Marsh open space prop- <br /> erty, has indicated a willingness to sell a 1.4 acre lot. The property was recently deleted from the <br /> acquisition boundary upon recommendation of the Commission. The County has no funds to ac- <br /> quire this property. Mr. Nolan moved, seconded by Ms. Gohl, that the County explore rights of <br /> first refusal with Mr. Hill to preserve the future right to purchase his property located adjacent <br /> to Snail Lake Marsh. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Holmberg will provide Commission members with maps showing open space in-holdings. <br /> Commission Member Updates Regarding Work Plan Assignments <br /> Mr. Nolan provided a video tape for viewing by the Commission on an adopt-a-park program at <br /> the Alameda-Contra Costa Regional Park in the East Bay Regional Park District. There was dis- <br /> cussion about corporate sponsorships for County parks (e.g. 3M/Battle Creek Regional Park; <br /> H.B. Fuller Company/Willow Lake Nature Preserve; Deluxe Corporation/Island Lake County <br /> Park). Mr. Nolan will draft an adopt-a-park proposal. <br /> Director's Report <br /> Mr. Mack distributed copies of News &Views. <br /> .Mr. Mack reported that the County decided not to accept Mr. Joe Lampe's $2,000 donation for a <br /> parking area at Rice Creek. County Board members indicated that the project can be funded <br /> without the donation. The Ramsey County Public Works Department will install a gravel pad for <br /> parking as part of the Lexington Avenue reconstruction project. <br /> Mr. Mack reported that the Metropolitan Parks and Open Space Commission recommended ap- <br /> proval of a $295,000 grant for the Snail Lake Regional Park project; $325,000 was requested. Mr. <br /> Mack suggested requesting that the City of Shoreview defer assessing the County for the upcom- <br /> ing lake augmentation until funds are available from the Metropolitan Council. <br /> Reports from Chairman and Other Commission Members <br /> Chairman Nethercut encouraged Commission members to attend the joint meeting with the St. <br /> Paul Parks and Recreation Commission scheduled for October 20, 1992, 6:00 p.m., Keller Golf <br /> Course Clubhouse. <br /> Mr. Botzek said he was approached by Mr. Roger Klinkhammer, a resident on Island Lake Av- <br /> enue (behind Target Greatland).
