MINUTES CiF T[1E ARDEN HTr 7 S PARKS & RECREATICN CCtffMTEE <br /> TUESDAY, MMKH 24, 1992, 7:30 P.M., CITY HAIL <br /> • CAIL TO CRDER. <br /> The regular meeting of the Arden Hills Parks and Recreation Comission was called <br /> to order at 7:35 P.M. by Chairman David Sand. <br /> ROLL CALL: <br /> Present: Chair Sand, Mary Gillies, Bill Guelker, Lynette Kreidler, Mark Labine, <br /> Mark Magers, David Moberg, Alan Montgomery, and Megan Ricke. <br /> Absent: Mark Literski and Don Messerly. <br /> Also Present: County Road E residents Pauline Hass, 1420 W. County Road E; Janean <br /> Kajer, 1434 W. County Road E; Council Liaison, Dale Hicks; Cynthia Severtson, <br /> Program Supervisor; and John Buckley, Park Director. <br /> CA= C!F OFT IC E: <br /> Councilmember Hicks directed Bill Guelker in the 1992 Oath of Office. <br /> Chair Sand and Parks Director Buckley warmly welcomed new and old Committee members. <br /> APPROVAL CiF MINUTES <br /> January 28, 1992, Minutes were approved as mailed. <br /> COUNCIL REPCRT <br /> • Councilman Hicks Reported: <br /> - council approved the preparation of Specifications for the 1992 Park <br /> Improvements <br /> - Paving Trail from Ommtings to Hamlin <br /> - Improving drainage at Valentine Park <br /> - Improve drainage at Perry #3 & #4 <br /> - Council ok'd Park Comission Solicitation of Charitable gambling money <br /> from Charities <br /> - Council has narrowed the selection of architects for designing new City <br /> Hall to two firms <br /> - A large group of residents attended the public hearing regarding the <br /> closing of the left turning lanes on Hwy. 51. No decision has been <br /> made <br /> County Road E residents Hass and Kajer informed the Park Commission of the increases <br /> traffic on County Road E. Over 7700 cars are using County Road E daily. County <br /> Road E is used by bikers and joggers from Mounds View and Bethel. The increased <br /> traffic is creating a hazardous condition. County Road E is designated as a future <br /> Bike Route by Ramsey County. The resident's asked that County Road E's present fair <br /> lane road be repainted to leave two lanes for car traffic, center lane for turning, <br /> and a lane for bikers and joggers. <br /> Labine moved (seconded by Guelker) that Park Commission recommend the City support <br /> making County Road E (from Hwy. 51 to Lindey's corner) safer by reducing traffic <br /> lanes to two - make center lane a turning lane, and stripe part of E for safe Bike <br /> • Lane. Motion carried. <br />
