Arden Hills Parks,Trails and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes 3 <br /> April 23,2002 <br /> • Chair Straumann clarified that they would work with the process to develop a good plan. <br /> Council Liaison Larson clarified the process they would take with the Committee. He stated that <br /> they would need assistance with a lot of the development process from the developers. He stated <br /> that they would have them assist with the funding adding that this would allow them to recoup <br /> the upfront dollars. <br /> Chair Straumann asked if there was an upfront fee. Council Liaison Larson clarified that there <br /> were no upfront fees. He further stated that they would assist with the lobbying efforts. <br /> Committee Member Krenn stated that the Presbyterian Homes is going forward with their <br /> development. He stated that they have purchased three parcels combining them into one piece of <br /> property. He explained that the plan is to build a two-story structure that would include a <br /> commercial office on the first floor and rental housing on the second floor. He stated that this is <br /> a very positive development adding that no road realignment is planned for this area. <br /> Council Liaison Larson referenced the Guidant proposal stating that the Planning Commission <br /> would hear their proposal at their next meeting and reviewed with the Committee. He explained <br /> that the three-story training center would be connected to Control Data. He announced that the <br /> Friskies plant would be closing stating that they have been a good neighbor and employer in <br /> Arden Hills. <br /> • Council Liaison Larson provided the Committee with an overview of the Street Improvement <br /> program stating that it involves two cul-de-sacs. He stated that they received the Feasibility <br /> Study and it appears that they are ready to go forward with the reconstruction of the area. He <br /> stated that presently they are on a two-year schedule for completion. <br /> C. Parks Update—Michelle Olson <br /> Ms. Olson stated that she would like to acknowledge Committee Member Krenn. She stated that <br /> works for Medtronic and that he has worked as a coach and patrols for the Adopt A Park. She <br /> stated that for his time, Medtronics is donating $500.00 to the Parks Department. She explained <br /> that equal portions of the donation would be placed into the Recreation Fund and Parks <br /> Department. Committee Member Krenn explained that he has done this for the three years that <br /> he has worked for Medtronics. <br /> Chair Straumann stated that the Eagle Scouts were very helpful with the Buckthorn removal <br /> project. He stated that they are also hoping to have the new U. S. Flag by this Saturday, April 27, <br /> 2002. <br /> Ms. Olson explained that Tom Moore had planned to provide the Committee with information <br /> and examples of the signs for the Arden Hills parks and trails stating that she was not able to get <br /> the information in time for the meeting. She further explained that the information would be <br /> • forwarded to Committee members for the review with the intent to discuss at the next meeting. <br />
