Arden Hills Parks,Trails and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes 4 <br /> April 23,2002 <br /> • D. Open Discussion <br /> Committee Member Krenn expressed concerns regarding Cummings Park. He stated that the <br /> Residents do not want a parking lot. He stated that they would prefer to close the park rather <br /> than put in another parking lot. He reviewed the park area with the Committee. <br /> Chair Straumann suggested relocating the shelter adding that he has received feedback from <br /> Residents regarding the package. He encouraged the Committee to utilize all resources. <br /> Ms. Olson stated that the hockey rink was removed, as it was not used very often. <br /> Committee Member Krenn stated that there are ten spaces available during the day and that all <br /> spaces are available at night. He explained that this is per Fair Isaacs. Ms. Olson stated that they <br /> know of the ten spaces. She stated that these would always be available adding that the <br /> Committee was considering expansion of the spaces available. <br /> Committee Member Thompson encouraged them to keep in mind the long term needs. She <br /> stated that the Community prefers Fair Isaacs and suggested that they include a plan for future <br /> use. Committee Member Henry agreed. <br /> Committee Member Krenn clarified that no matter who purchases the property that the <br /> agreement would carry forward. Council Liaison Larson asked Committee Member Krenn if it <br /> • would be a more workable solution to downsize the lot and access and address another entry <br /> point. <br /> Committee Member Messerly agreed with Committee Members Thompson and Henry stating <br /> that they should consider a backup plan. He expressed his agreement with Committee Member <br /> Krenn stating that the entrance needs to be addressed adding that they need to keep the parking <br /> lot. <br /> Committee Member Krenn clarified that the main issue is that they need to get rid of the access <br /> at Windcourt Lane. <br /> Ms. Olson clarified the concepts behind the decisions adding that the parking lot and access can <br /> be addressed. <br /> Committee Member Krenn referenced three trails stating that they cross through the area. He <br /> stated that this creates a liability issue. He stated that Guidant is closing Fernwood and expressed <br /> concerns stating that the change on Femwood would affect Residents outside of Arden Hills and <br /> would increase traffic on Lexington. He referenced two access points to Cummings Park and <br /> reviewed with the Committee. <br /> • <br />
