Arden Hills Parks,Trails and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes 5 <br /> April 23,2002 <br /> • MOTION: Committee Member Krenn moved and Committee Member Messerly seconded <br /> the motion to Approve a Resolution that the Parks, Trails and Recreation <br /> Committee Request that Fernwood remain as a main access to park. The motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> Committee Member Krenn stated that this would be presented at the next Planning Commission <br /> meeting. He reviewed the access points with the Committee noting the safety issues. <br /> Chair Straumann noted that Guidant intends to install a skyway from Building E to Building F. <br /> He stated that this would connect all of the building together and would provide a means to cross. <br /> Committee Member Krenn stated that they should address bicycle paths and trails that allow easy <br /> and safe crossings. Committee Member Henry agreed stating that it does not have a true trail <br /> system. He stated that it has trail fragments and agreed that the focus and priority should be on <br /> creating trail connections. Committee Member Krenn clarified that Council has discussed this <br /> issue. Committee Member Messerly stated that the Highway 96 Task Force has also reviewed <br /> this issue. Council Liaison Larson referred the Committee to the Plan and referenced page 25 <br /> noting that it includes trail connections as an item of discussion. <br /> Committee Member Henry clarified that he is not proposing that the priority should be to connect <br /> but that he is proposing that they develop a plan for connection. Committee Member Thompson <br /> agreed that the Community has identified this as a priority. <br /> NEXT MEETING AGENDA <br /> Chair Straumann stated that the next Committee meeting is scheduled for May 21, 2002. He <br /> clarified that it was originally scheduled for May 28, 2002. <br /> Ms. Olson confirmed that the original date was May 28, 2002 and explained that the Parks <br /> Committee meeting had to be rescheduled due to a date conflict adding that the City Council is <br /> scheduled for the same date. <br /> Ms. Olson stated that the Park Guide would be presented to Council for approval at the May 13, <br /> 2002 Council meeting. She stated that the Park Comprehensive Plan is scheduled for approval <br /> on May 28, 2002. She stated that a work session has been scheduled for May 20, 2002 to prepare <br /> for the Park Comprehensive Plan. She stated that the Commission has requested a copy of the <br /> final document. She stated that when they received the final draft they discovered several errors <br /> and they are currently in the process of making corrections. She stated that when they have <br /> completed the revisions final copies would be provided. <br /> OTHER ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> A. Park Comprehensive Plan Update—Budget Priorities <br /> • Chair Straumann provided the Committee with a copy of the Parks Five-year Capital Plan 2003 <br />
