Minutes of Parks and Recreation Committee Minutes, June 25, 1985
• Page two
Council has also approved employment of summer program personnel, and two
additional persons for playground program (added because of unusually high
enrollment; 237 children currently enrolled. )
No agreement has been reached on park dedication for Woodbridge Properties;
negotiations are still in progress.
Dedication by Gerald McGuire, Edgewater Estates (Bussard property) will be
partially in land and remainder in cash; amount not determined.
Roseville Bank will pay $905 for dedication (amount originally credited
for ponding which is now filled in. )
Application has been received by Planning Commission, to be discussed July 9,
for re-construction of Motorola Tower to height of 1,125 feet.
Crepeau Nature Preserve
Messerly reported that planting done earlier is doing great; volunteers
will be needed to keep weeds below 6" as these wild flowers require total
sunlight. Plantings should be blooming at various times all next growing
season. Pedestrian trail is being used more and more frequently.
Messerly presented to Buckley a donation of $200 from the Arden Hills
• Sportsmans' Club, to be used in the Preserve for construction of walking
bridge in extremely low and wet area. Messerly and volunteers are putting
in the bridge this week.
Summer Program Review
Buckley reported good response to all programs offered, particularly summer
playground program. Leagues are all operating smoothly.
Most feedback from mothers with children in the summer playground program
has been excellent—residents are most appreciative of this opportunity
for their youngsters. Program leaders are offering excellent selection
of learning and play activities.
Miscellaneous/New Business
- Committee noted that the grass on the soccer field at Cummings is not thick
enough for soccer games by older youths.
- Otto stated that, while playing tennis at Cummings, residents on the
cul-de-sac informed him that it is still being used for parking. People
are mis-reading the parking signs, parking between them; suggested
different placement of signs.
- Buckley reported preparation of 1986 budget is in progress; he will present
to the Committee for its review and discussion at the July meeting.
- Messerly, Gillies, Klick and Otto will also present recommendations for
• homes to be awarded certificates for exceptional gardens.
