The Committee could
consider the possibility of a floating dock in the
marsh area for access during the summer months .
Cummings - The Installation of play equipment will be located
on the northwest and and double tennis courts , playing
north and south , on the hill just east of the cul -de-sac .
• The grass is growing very well . A trail connecting
Cummings Park to Hamline Avenue and Floral Park is
recognizable and definitely being used by the neigh-
borhood .
Freeway - This park is small and looks crowded with its permanent
hockey rink . The area needs more plantings . Some
consideration for the future could be planting vines
along the fencing and around the hockey rink to Improve
its appearance in the summer .
Valentine - This park is also very small and looking very wet
and messy during spring rains . Members feel this park
should receive special emphasis re the water problem .
Crepeau - This park is being considered for emphasis in wild
flower/natural type settings . Some discussion of slow-
ing the water flow out of the marsh area to create the
possibility for the propagation of cattail and water
lily . Also expose the extraordinarily mature oaks with
emphasis on their shape and size . Consider extending
the dirt coverage of the culvert on the east side near
Benton Way to create space for picnic benches and
playground equipment . The Committee displayed a definite
desire to keep this park more natural and undeveloped .
We met a mid-elementary aged child riding his bike on
• the trail , which is not hard surfaced, so it can be done .
-i -
