Minutes of Regular Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting <br /> Tuesday , April 10 , 1984 <br /> Page Two <br /> Report of Tennis Court Construction <br /> Director Buckley reported the specifications have been drawn up <br /> and three companies have picked up the specs . Bids are due to be <br /> opened April 24 , at 2 : 30 p .m. This construction includes a double <br /> court at Cummings a single at Hazelnut and a single at Floral , <br /> completion by July 1 , 1984 . All courts have specifications for <br /> fences ten feet hiqh on all sides . <br /> Crepeau Park Development <br /> D . Messerly presented copies of his preliminary sketch of the <br /> Crepeau Park area . Messerly asked Committee for their thoughts <br /> for the next step in this development . After discussion , Committee <br /> suggested the annual Park Tour, scheduled for May 8 , on a walk <br /> through Crepeau Park by the full Committee . Messerly will contact <br /> his acquaintance at the Arboratum re : types of plantings , etc . <br /> Specialist M. Krotaska would recommend for the Crepeau soil , <br /> taking into account the type of natural vegetation present . <br /> Spring Program Report <br /> Director Buckley reported that a strong interest in softball <br /> continues . The Cummings Park facilities will be used two or three <br /> nights this season for Adult Leagues . In addition , co-rec will <br /> use Island Lake School facilities and the Hazelnut Park fields . <br /> The Perry Park parking problem will continue to exist until more <br /> space is found . Director Buckley has encouraged teams to carpool <br /> and start earlier in the evening . Parking will be allowed in the <br /> hockey rink area , but , discouraged on New Brighton Road . Speed <br /> limit changes have been referred to Ramsey County. <br /> Winter Program Report <br /> Participation was high . Some changes regarding hockey , by encouraging <br /> Lake Region to use Hazelnut for practice and some games and <br /> scheduling Bethel Broomball to play later in the night , Buckley is <br /> freeing up Perry hockey rink for more neighborhood use. <br /> Health Fair Volunteers <br /> Buckley reports there will be 30 different stations on the program <br /> from 1 : 00 to 8 : 00 p . m. , Monday , April 30 , at Edgewood Community <br /> Center. Anyone interested in helping in the general area of a <br /> specific station , call Buckley . <br /> Park Clean-up <br /> Committee will continue to motivate citizens to participate in the <br /> annual park clean-up activities .
