• considering a comprehensive, street lighting program for the entire village. <br /> He added that the City does not, at this time, have a street lighting plan or <br /> policy; when requests or petitions for street lights are received, they are <br /> considered on individual basis. Council has now directed the committee to <br /> prepare a survey to be sent to all residents, asking if they want street lights <br /> throughout the City installed according to the guidelines developed by that <br /> committee, or if they prefer the present policy. <br /> The Parks Committee requested that this survey address the possibility of <br /> decorative lighting as an additional option to traditional street lighting, at <br /> additional cost. They also asked that consideration be given to decorative <br /> lighting rather than traditional street lighting on the designated parkways. <br /> Council Report <br /> Councilman Hicks reported on Council actions of interest to this committee. He <br /> reported that the Council had approved operation of a concession stand at Perry <br /> Park during the softball season, the summer parks program presented by Buckley, <br /> and employment of recommended summer parks maintenance personnel. Agreement <br /> has not been reached as yet with the Opus Corporation re park dedication. <br /> Miscellaneous Business <br /> - Buckley reported that the lights at the Mounds View tennis courts are now <br /> operating; are activated with push button switch. The School District will pay <br /> electricity cost and maintenance costs. <br /> - Arbor Day planting was successful; many persons helped. Sand expressed <br /> • concern about the loss of some trees.
