Minutes of Regular Parks Committee Meeting, April 22 <br /> Page 5 <br /> • hours would not disturb any homeowners. <br /> He also proposed moving the general skating area from Valentine Park to Mounds <br /> View site, discontinuing any skating at Valentine Park, and moving the warming <br /> house to Mounds View also. <br /> Committee expressed some concern about vandalism and accessibility if all <br /> general skating is moved to this area. <br /> Matter will be discussed again at a later meeting. <br /> Crepeau Nature Preserve <br /> Messerly presented sketches showing plans for Crepeau Nature Preserve this <br /> year. He suggested planting of aspen at the Dellwood entrance (approximate <br /> cost $200). Buckley, noting that some parking should be provided at this <br /> entrance, will meet at the site with Messerly to plan this planting. <br /> Messerly's subcommittee also recommended expansion of the prairie area. Cost <br /> of plants and soil preparation is estimated at $500. <br /> The subcommittee plans expansion of the path area to make a continuing path <br /> around the park. To do so, a floating bog walk will be needed. The Arden <br /> Hills Sportsmens' Club has offered to provide the labor to construct this. <br /> (Messerly is personally finishing path construction and will re-install the <br /> • entrance posts at Dellwood). A cost estimate for the floating bog walk will be <br /> presented at the May meeting. <br /> Motion was made by Messerly, seconded by Mulcahy, that aspen be purchased for <br /> Crepeau Nature Preserve, and funds be expended as recommended for enlargement <br /> of the prairie area. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Long Range Financing Plan for Park Improvements <br /> Committee briefly discussed future amounts of dedication funds that might be <br /> available for park improvements.
