r <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING <br /> y MINUTES, APRIL 25, 1989 <br /> Call to Order <br /> The regular meeting of the Arden Hills Park and Recreation Commission was <br /> . called to order at 7:45 P.M. by Chairman David Sand. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Present: Chairman David Sand, Keith Enrooth, Alan Montgomery, Jim Otto. <br /> Absent <br /> Dorothy McClung, Mark Peterson, Mary Gillies, Don Messerly, Pattie Green <br /> and Tom Mulcahy. <br /> Also Present <br /> Councilmember Tom Mahowald and Parks Director John Buckley. <br /> MINUTE APPROVAL Minutes of the February 28 meeting were approved as <br /> mailed. <br /> COUNCIL REPORT Councilmember Mahowald reported: <br /> Casserly & Associates has been hired by the City <br /> to direct the financing and development of the Round <br /> Lake Industrial area. <br /> The Round Lake T.I.F. District has been expanded to <br /> include North Snelling and Cummings Park. <br /> Kem Milling property has been purchased by the City. <br /> • This project will be included in the TIF Redevelopment <br /> project. <br /> The Council is presently interviewing candidates for <br /> City Attorney and City Engineer consulting positions. <br /> Cellular One has entered a 15 year lease agreement with <br /> the City for space on the north water tower. The City <br /> will receive $600 per month for the leased space. <br /> Council approved lease/purchase of a street sweeper. <br /> SPRING PROGRAM Buckley reported that there are 40 men's teams, 20 Co-Rec <br /> teams, 17 women's teams that will be playing in the Arden <br /> Hills Softball leagues this season. 5 men's teams and 3 co-rec teams have <br /> been turned away because of field shortage. In addition, 16 Control Data <br /> teams will also be playing on Arden Hills' fields this season. <br /> We are receiving a good response for youth T-ball, softball and soccer <br /> programs. The Youth Athletic Association programs are experiencing <br /> continued growth. North Suburban Soccer Association has over 1100 <br /> children playing this summer, 18% of the registrations are Arden Hills <br /> children. Little Lakes Litttle League Baseball has over 1000 <br /> registrations this year, 19% are from Arden Hills. 750 children played <br /> baseball in 1988. There will be a real field shortage for soccer and <br /> baseball fields in the Arden Hills/Shoreview area this summer. <br /> • <br />
