Public Works Director / City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Floral Park Improvements <br /> <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> $606,000 – Floral Park $TBD PIR – Parks <br /> <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />• Moving forward with the Floral Park Improvements <br />• Replace existing park shelter <br />• Amending HR Green contract for professional services <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />The Floral Park playground structure was built in 2001, through the City’s Park Maintenance <br />Management Plan, park equipment is to be considered for replacement on a 20-year cycle. <br />Within the 2023-2027 CIP, Floral Park is programmed for improvements in 2023. City staff has <br />inspected Floral Park, Council should review Attachment B which provides pictures for <br />reference. Also, within the 2023-2027 CIP, the shelter at Floral Park is budgeted to be replaced. <br /> <br />Recommended Improvements: <br />Replace the play structure: The structure will be 22 years old in 2023, through inspection there <br />are visible signs of deterioration of the protective rubber coating around the structure. The mulch <br />and the containment timbers are beginning to rot. City staff has received some complaints from <br />users of the equipment that they would like to see repairs or replacement. <br /> <br />Rehabilitation of the bituminous trail loop: About 1000-feet of trail are recommended by staff to <br />rehab by reclamation and paving. Looking at the history of maintenance activities, this trail <br />segment received a slurry seal about ten years ago to extend the useful life. Through inspection,
