*..ASSOCIATES
City Planning
November 15, 2000 landscape Architecture
Tom Moore Park Planning 8 Design
Parks and Recreation Director land Use Planning
City of Arden Hills
4364 West Round Lake Road
Arden Hills,MN 55112-5794
Re: Arden Hills Park and Trail System Master Plan
Dear Tom and Members of the Park and Trail and Recreation Committee:
Thanks for taking the time to discuss Arden Hills'park planning needs and to discuss our proposal
and services. On behalf of Ingraham&Associates I am pleased to submit this proposal to prepare
a Park and Trail System Master Plan for the City of Arden Hills. The park planning process
necessitates a system-wide analysis of park and recreation needs based on changing demographics,
recreation trends, land use and development guides, and community input. Ingraham&Associates
would help the community take a comprehensive and fresh look at the existing parks, analyze
recreation needs and opportunities, and prepare a plan to help guide park renovation, future park
development and trail connections.
The park planning process would answer, among others, the following questions:
Is the existing park system meeting resident needs?
How can existing parks better serve the neighborhoods and the community?
Should some facilities be renovated or converted to better serve the community?
What new recreation facilities are needed?
How can the trail system be improved to connect the community?
What parks and trails are needed to serve development of the Armory lands?
We would involve the Park Committee,City Council,recreation groups,City staff,recreation
partners(school district, Ramsey County, adjacent municipalities,Bethel College,etc.),the
community and neighborhoods in a series of public meetings to help answer these questions and to
update the park and trail system plan. We also offer the option of a community survey to gather
detailed data on park and trail needs and desires. The end product will be a master park and trail
system plan that will help guide development of parks, both new and existing, for the next twenty
years. Creation of a defined community vision through an inclusive public process will pay
dividends in the form of well-used parks and a healthy community.
Call me at(612)377-2500 if you have any questions about our proposal or to authorize us to begin
work. We look forward to working with you and the community on the park and trail system plan.
Sincerely,
Greg Ingraham
President and Landscape Architect
1510 Como Avenue S.E.
