X City of Arden Hills Page 5 of 63 October 7, 2022 The recommendation from the original report that the trail alignment be continuous on either side of the roadway and not shifting from side to side remains valid, in order to provide continuous and consistent improvements with previous construction and to eliminate the need for users to cross Old Snelling Ave. / Old Highway 10 for trail use. this updated report recommends that the proposed trail be located on the west side of the corridor, therefore elements from the original report that refer to east side alternatives are not included in this updated report. Refer to Section 4.0 Design Approach for more information. In this report, the terms “Old Snelling Avenue” and “Old Highway 10” are used together to represent the roadway along which the project area lies. MnDOT’s Geographic Information & Mapping Section’s published transportation maps and the Ramsey County online GIS server identify the portion of the project from Minnesota State Highway 51 north to Interstate 694 as Snelling Ave. N. and the portion of the project from Interstate 694 north to County State Aid Highway 96 as Old Highway 10. This is inconsistent with some street signs along the project area, which identify the portion of the project from Minnesota State Highway 51 north to County Rd. E West / Lake Johanna Blvd. as Snelling Ave. and the portion of the project from County Rd. E West / Lake Johanna Blvd. north across Interstate 694 to County State Aid Highway 96 as Old Highway 10. PURPOSE This information is being provided to guide the City in making planning, funding, design, and other management decisions for the Old Snelling Avenue / Old Highway 10 Trail.
