<br />.. <br /> <br />I;< <br />-. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />.'\....:..". ....'\ <br /> <br />...~ ~ ,..'".;.!' .. <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> <br />VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS <br />RESOLUTION NO. ?$~C:U <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RE 191 ACRE SCHMIDT PARK <br />SUPPLEMENT AND DRAINAGE CORRIDOR PRO- <br />POSED BY RAMSEY COUNTY PARKS AND OPEN <br />SPACE COMMISSION · <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey County Parks and Open Space <br />Commission has proposed to acquire a 191 acre corridor <br /> <br />of land which stretches from Schmidt Park on the south to <br /> <br />the intersection of Interstate Highways 35 Wand 694 on the <br />north for the purposes of controlling the surface water <br />runoff and lake overflow from this corridor and surrounding <br />land to Rice Creek, providing a valuable resource for environ- <br />mental education, correcting the hydrological problems <br />associated with Lake Johanna, complementing the existing <br />recreational facilities at Schmidt Park, preserving and <br />protecting the corridor's natural character not only for its <br /> <br />scenic and aesthetic value but also for its value as an <br /> <br />excellent habitat and refuge for wild life in a rapidly devel- <br /> <br />oping municipality, and developing multi-purpose trails <br />throughout the corridor to connect the three schools, library, <br /> <br />two playgrounds, and existing County Park located adjacent <br /> <br />thereto, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 1, Subd. 4 of Chapter 950, Laws of <br />1971, provides that the Ramsey County Parks and Open Space <br /> <br />Commission shall not acquire any right, title, or interest <br />in or to real property designated by it for parks, open space, <br />or recreational purposes, or to develop the same without first <br /> <br />obtaining approval of the governing b09Y of the municipality <br />in which said property is located, and <br />
