<br />ARDE)l HILLS CITY COUNCIL MEETING MJJ\lJTES <br />MARCH 1 J, 2002 <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mayor Probst invited those present to come forward and address the Council on any items not <br />alread y on the agenda. <br /> <br />:\fo public comments were made. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />A. PMP Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Lynch updated Council on thc PMP Discussion. He indicatcd they did not at this time have <br />a Plan B project. He asked if Council wantcd staff to look at a Plan B project now. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst indicated he was comfortable with thc path they were Collowing. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson requcstcd staff infonn them oCthc assessment level on the last project <br />the City embarked on. Mr. Post statcd thc project was in 1998, and he believed thc <br />reconstruction rate for Fairvicw Avenue and Edgewater was 541.00 per foot. He indicated he <br />had lookcd at thc cost increase and the costs appeared to be escalating at approx. 4% per year. <br />He statcd thc cstimatc they had was within a 51.00 per foot of that rate. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mr. Lynch stated there werc no common areas in this project; they were alJ single-family homes. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson asked if there was any other work the cngineers were proposing other <br />than street reconstruction. Mr. Post replied one oCthe concems was the uncertainty oCthc base <br />of the roads needed to get to the cuI-de-sacs. He indicated one of the fears was the destruction of <br />the roads leading to the cul-de-sacs. He statcd this was a deviation from what was originally <br />proposed. <br /> <br />Mr. Lynch stated he did not think there were any additional costs involvcd in this and iCthat did <br />occur, they would nccd to come back to Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson asked iCthey were proposing to pull up the existing street and leave the <br />existing curb and gutter. Mr. Post rcplied the engineer had not done any soil borings yet, but if <br />the cngincer found it was necessary to replacc the curb and gutter, it would need to be done. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson statcd if they were not going to tear up the curb and gutter, he believed <br />this was a substantial increase in costs. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated he hoped the estimate included thc curb a.tld gutter and that the enginccr <br />would not replace the curb and gutter if it was not absolutely necessary. <br /> <br />. Councilmember Larson requested ifthc engineer's estimatc did have a replacement for curb and <br />gutter, and curb and gutter replacement was not nccessary, the engineer's estimate would be <br />brought down. <br />
