CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 1245 WEST HIGHWAY 96 CAI L TO ORDER Mayor Probst called the meeting to order at 5 :34 p.m. Councilmcmbers present were Beverly Aplikowski, Gregg Larson, and Lois Rem. Staff present included City Administrator, Joe Lynch; Recrcation Supervisor, Michelle Olson; City PlatUler, Aaron Parrish; City Treasurer, Terry Post; and Recording Secretary, Jackie Gritz. The following PTRC members were present: Roberta Thompson, Jim Crassweller, Cindy Garrctson, and Rich StraUmatUl. The new Deputy Clerk, Cynthia Young, was introduced by Joe Lynch. STAFF DISCUSSION ITEMS Administration Day In the Park 1,'unding - Aplikowski summarized the latest mceting of the City Events Task Force last week regarding thc Day In the Park. She indicated their group is asking thc city to dedicate roughly $30,000 for the day. This year's Day In the Park wi]] start with a paradc at 1 :00 p.m. and end with lircworks at 10:00 p.m. She indicated if Council did not want to dcsignate money toward this ycar's event, we can go to the community and ask for money. Post noted last year we raised $33,000 from community sponsors. Mayor Probst indicated bis confidcnce the money needed for this day can be raised by donations and the Council would be willing to fill in where moncy is short. Lynch reminded all that we currently have an operating surplus of $200,000 that still has not be been designatcd for expenditure. Olson notcd the imp0l1ance "fthe City Events Task Force to movc quickly with plans for this year's Day In the Park. Aplikowski also noted Council would need to dedicatc money toward paying for staff time. She indicated wc probably don't need as many staff as last year but if they wanted staff to work, they should be paid.
