<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br />~!-lILLS <br /> <br />lVlEETIl'IG MINUTES <br /> <br />CITY 01< ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br />CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION <br />MONDAY, MARCH 18, 2002,4:45 P.M. <br />CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 1245 WEST HIGHWAY 96 <br /> <br />CAI L TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Probst called the meeting to order at 5 :34 p.m. Councilmcmbers present were <br />Beverly Aplikowski, Gregg Larson, and Lois Rem. <br /> <br />Staff present included City Administrator, Joe Lynch; Recrcation Supervisor, Michelle <br />Olson; City PlatUler, Aaron Parrish; City Treasurer, Terry Post; and Recording Secretary, <br />Jackie Gritz. <br /> <br />The following PTRC members were present: Roberta Thompson, Jim Crassweller, <br />Cindy Garrctson, and Rich StraUmatUl. <br /> <br />The new Deputy Clerk, Cynthia Young, was introduced by Joe Lynch. <br /> <br />STAFF DISCUSSION ITEMS <br /> <br />Administration <br /> <br />Day In the Park 1,'unding - Aplikowski summarized the latest mceting of the City <br />Events Task Force last week regarding thc Day In the Park. She indicated their group is <br />asking thc city to dedicate roughly $30,000 for the day. This year's Day In the Park wi]] <br />start with a paradc at 1 :00 p.m. and end with lircworks at 10:00 p.m. She indicated if <br />Council did not want to dcsignate money toward this ycar's event, we can go to the <br />community and ask for money. Post noted last year we raised $33,000 from community <br />sponsors. Mayor Probst indicated bis confidcnce the money needed for this day can be <br />raised by donations and the Council would be willing to fill in where moncy is short. <br />Lynch reminded all that we currently have an operating surplus of $200,000 that still has <br />not be been designatcd for expenditure. Olson notcd the imp0l1ance "fthe City Events <br />Task Force to movc quickly with plans for this year's Day In the Park. <br /> <br />Aplikowski also noted Council would need to dedicatc money toward paying for staff <br />time. She indicated wc probably don't need as many staff as last year but if they wanted <br />staff to work, they should be paid. <br />
