Councilmcmber Aplikowski stated <br />her issue was \vith the job descriptions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Rem statcd thcy nccdcd to have morc discussion. <br /> <br />Councilmcmber Larson stated if this was an issue about the job descriptions, why didn't Conncil <br />discuss the job dcscriptions, and not reconsider the prcviously approved structure. <br /> <br />Councilmcmber Rem stated she believed Council should hcar from more of the staff, other than <br />the City Administrator, as to what they wanted the City structnre to be. <br /> <br />MOTlOK: <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant moved and Councilmcmber Aplikowski seconded a motion <br />to extcnd the Arden Hills City Council meeting to 10:30 p.m. Motion carricd <br />unanimously. (5-0) <br /> <br />Mayor Probst statcd it was thc Council's responsibility to lead the City, and thcy had the <br />responsibility to support the City Administrator when they had instructcd him to do something. <br />He expressed frustration that the Council was unable to reach a decision and stick with it. He <br />stated he did not see the logic for backtracking. Hc indicated he not believe any employcr would <br />consult thc cntire staff as to how managcmcnt should be structured. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant recommended they take this issue to a worksession. Mayor Probst asked <br />for direction as to what Council was looking for in order to have a worksession discussion. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant stated he wanted to see other altcrnatives to restructuring. Hc suggested <br />the combining of Parks with Public Works was a good idea. He stated hc was not in favor of a <br />taJl and nalTOW structure; but a taJl and wide structure. <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski stated she wanted to see a budget analysis. She stated these <br />positions had not been posted yet, and shc did not feel that fifteen days would make much of a <br />diffcrence. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson stated he thought it was unfair to the Administrator to ask him to come <br />up with other altematives, whcn this was the altemative they had agreed to. He stated if the City <br />Administrator did not agree with an altemative, it would be counterproductive. He statcd they <br />needed the City Administrator's support of a structure. <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski stated she had not seen any other altematives and she wanted other <br />ideas to be prescntcd. <br /> <br />Councilmembcr Rcm also requested a budget breakdown. She stated with respect to the job <br />descriptions; she was not convinced that the structure they had was working. She stated team <br />building nccdcd to get donc by the staff. She asked why thcy needed two new people, and what <br />
